Fiber 03 - Fiber Troubleshooting
This is the third course required on your way to becoming a fiber technician. You will learn how to verify and test optical links. This course covers how to do power loss and OTDR measurements.
Course Objectives
Fiber 03 is for technicians who want to test and troubleshoot fiber optic systems. It will examine the measurement and troubleshooting tools that are commonly used to test system. Learners will learn how to take and interpret loss and Optical Time Domain Relfectometer (OTDR) measurements.
You will be able to:
1) determine scenarios to use a Visual Fault Locator
2) make measurements using an optical source and power meter
3) make and interpret OTDR traces

Is there a hands-on portion to the course?
The course can be done with a hands-on component or not. The hands-on component can be done internally at your company or we can arrange an instructor to come in to help after the online course is completed.
